“I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine.”

— Emily Dickinson

Laura Rolnick

Cornell University, B.A. Government, magna cum laude

Boston University Law School, J.D., Probate Law Journal

Writing has been my passion since childhood. At Cornell University, I was instructed by the best writers in their fields. Focusing on English Literature, Political Theory, and language, I wrote an honors thesis with Cornell’s Government Department and graduated magna cum laude from the School of Arts and Sciences. Writing and editing for Cornell’s renowned Cornell Daily Sun was my passion and where I honed journalistic, feature, and editorial writing.

I earned my juris doctorate at Boston University Law School, where I wrote and edited for the Probate Law Journal. After graduating from law school I earned admission to the New York State Bar, wrote decisions for the New York County Surrogate’s Court, and wrote briefs and correspondence for two New York City Law firms where I trained associates in legal and business writing.

As a Cornell University alumnus, I interview applicants to the University. I participate in regular meetings and training programs to keep up with college admission trends.

I have worked with many high school and college students, coaching them to craft standout admissions essays. I work with parents and students throughout the entire competitive admissions process, ensuring that my students are positioned strategically for success.

Brown University, B.A. Political Science

New York University Law School, J.D. Candidate

I graduated from Brown University where I studied Political Science and Literary Arts and am a third year J.D. candidate at NYU Law School. At Brown, I honed my writing and editing skills; I have experience with analytical as well as creative writing and served as a tutor in my school’s writing center. I have won awards for creative writing, screen writing, and a year-long writing project with my Brown professors. I credit my highly detailed and demanding writing professors who have taught me to express my thoughts and earn admissions and distinctions both in school and the workplace. I seek to share these skills with others so that they too can accomplish their admissions and writing goals. At NYU Law, I write and edit for the Arts and Entertainment Law Journal, for which precision and intrigue are paramount. My coursework in memoir and life writing has prepared me to help students craft artful, impactful personal statements.

I am passionate about storytelling and helping each student find their voice. With my deep understanding of what admissions committees are seeking when building their class, it is a joy to help my students attain their academic goals
